Each drive bay has its own independent dedicated Oxford 912 FireWire800/1394b chipset. This makes the drives run faster, keeps them truly independent in the event of a drive or bridge failure, and each volume shows up as an independently labeled device in your system for easier diagnosis and management. The HSB III sets itself apart from all others because each drive bay is independently terminated this means you can spin-down a drive in the system without having to turn on and off the whole subsystem. You will not find this in another product on the market - just ask.
