The 4-Port 'SATAStar Series' External Serial-ATA PCI Host Adapter provides an easy and affordable way for Macintosh & Windows/Linux users to add inexpensive, high-speed storage and devices. With four external shielded eSATA ports, each offering 3.0Gbits/sec performance, the SATAStar 4-Port provides the high bandwidth to meet the needs of performance-hungry applications. SATAStar products are the next -generation of storage interconnect, designed to replace parallel ATA technology. SATA is the proactive evolution of the ATA interface from a parallel bus to a serial bus architecture. This architecture overcomes the electrical constraints that are increasing the difficulty of continued speed enhancements for the classic parallel ATA bus.
